Himorogi is a place where the harmonious union between nature and spirit is celebrate, a sacred space in which the universal soul resides and is commemorated with votive ceremonies. The tribute to art and cinema Walerian Borowczyk fits symbolically in an overlap between the fence and the divine abode of the unconscious, expressed here for reports of images, sounds, faces, objects and mechanisms, where time and space are dilated and flow from the invisible to the real, immanent to the transcendent.

The initial idea for the film came from a ritual that Borowczyk usually did : to project slides in a room on a transparent suspended panel. The room was really the one where he lived, and he often told me how important it was for him to view photographs and drawings on a large media. I remember to have seen many times this type of projection, also simply on white walls. I found it surreal but at the same time so physically present: the beam of light mixed with dust and smoke drove down the darkened room and carrying the image that is recomposed then magically vertical. The Himorogi, besides being a sacred space or altar used as a place of worship, it is the symbolic vehicle by which to remember and celebrate his visionary Cinema. Alessio Pierro
